Fair Park
One of the most exciting attractions for Dallas Nannies to take children to visit is Fair Park. This 277-acre fun and educational complex is designated as a National Historic Landmark and contains museums, a lagoon, and a massive Ferris wheel. Much of the area was constructed for the Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936, which was a Worlds Fair to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of when Texas gained independence from Mexico. There is so much to do and see here that any Dallas nanny could spend weeks exploring before seeing everything. Below are three popular activities that Dallas nannies can do at Fair Park.
- State Fair of Texas — Typically this massive Fair takes place in late September to mid October and is a favorite of local kids of all ages. They have car shows and concerts for the older children as well as a kid's corner and livestock shows for younger children. In addition, there are a variety of fair rides to check out and a nightly parade that Dallas nannies and their children can attend.
- The Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park — This is a very popular place that children love to attend as it has flora and fauna from all over the world for them to experience. As a Dallas nanny you should definitely check this place out as it can be very entertaining and educational. There are a variety of talks, feedings, and performances which occur daily and are all free to attend with admission to the park.
- Museum of Nature and Science — This amazing museum was only recently founded in 2006 as a result of the merger of three museums in order to give visitors a richer experience when they visit. If you are a Dallas nanny with younger kids, then you can take them to the Children’s Museum which is geared towards their age group. In addition you can check out the rest of the fabulous permanent exhibits about dinosaurs or DNA or perhaps you can take the kids to one of the various traveling exhibits.
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens — The 60+ acre grounds have wonderful gardens and fountains to see as well as a magnificent view of White Rock Lake and the skyline of downtown Dallas. One of the most popular attractions is the collection of azaleas as there are over 2,000 variates to see and learn about. Dallas Zoo — Founded in 1888 and located just a few miles south of downtown, the Dallas Zoo has over 90 acres making it a top attraction in Texas. The two regions of the Zoo that Dallas nannies should visit are ZooNorth and the Wilds of Africa, which contain almost all of the animals within the park. ZooNorth has your typical animals like tigers, elephants, and monkeys in addition to an interactive area for younger children. Wilds of Africa has a popular Nature Trail which allows you to walk and see gorillas and chimpanzees as well as a variety of birds.
Dallas Museum of Art — If the children you watch as a Dallas nanny are into art, then this is the place to go to check out a huge selection of high quality pieces. They have a lot of Egyptian and Nubian art as well as a nice collection of paintings that match any great museum in the US. Some younger children might not get as much out of the museum quite yet, but it is worth a shot to see if they enjoy the art. Bumper boats and Go-karts are another favorite at Adventure Landing, and if all else fails, check out the arcade for some video games. One of the unique features here is a Teddy Bear Factory where kids can make their own bear to take home with them.
